Paris Landmarks and Sights

Paris situated on the river Seine, is the most visited city in the world. As one of the world's leading cultural centres, the city contains thousands of historical monuments, and some of the grandest museums and galleries. Many of these sights are free. Explore the  line of monuments beginning  with the Louvre and continuing through the Tuileries Gardens, the Champs-Élysées, and the Napoleonic Arc de Triomphe. The Louvre is one of the world's largest and most famous museums, containing many works of art, including the Mona Lisa. There is free entry to the Louvre on the first Sunday of every month.
 
Some of the most famous Parisian landmarks are the 12th-century cathedral Notre Dame de Paris and the 19th-century Eiffel Tower. Disneyland Paris is another major tourist attraction for visitors, as is the Palace of Versailles, known for its  magnificence and splendour. A boat trip down the river Seine is a great way to see many of the sites, as you float past.

Paris Markets

If you love antiques and all things old, you can't miss the great flea markets in Paris, one of the most famous being Les Puces de Saint-Ouen, but known to everyone as Les Puces (The Fleas). Another one of the last great authentic French markets is the Marché d’Aligre. As well there are the open air food markets, with fresh and enticing produce, that are an important part of normal Parisian life.

Paris Cuisine

While in Paris you must try the French pastries and bagueetes,  gelato and ice cream, wine and champagne, cheeses, escargot, the list goes on . Eating well is part of French life. Explore the patisseries and  brasseries  and enjoy genuine French cuisine.

Transport in Paris

The Métro is Paris' most important transportation system, and there are various rail passes available. Parisians also use a bike hiring system called Vélib'. Thousands of public bicycles are found throughout the city at parking stations, just keep coins handy to hire them.
